YQB VOTED BEST AIRPORT IN NORTH AMERICA

February 20th, 2012 – For a second year in a row, the Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) has been voted Best Airport in North America in the 0-2 million passenger category according to Airport Service Quality (ASQ), a world-wide survey lead by Airports Council International (ACI) which measures airport client satisfaction.

“Obviously, the client experience we offer our travellers along with our constant efforts to meet the highest expectations have set us apart from other airports in Canada, North America and the world. The quality and cleanliness of our terminal, the courtesy of our staff, the feeling of well-being and security and the unparalleled service in our VIP lounge are all proof of our promise to offer the highest possible efficiency and quality”, said President and CEO, Gaëtan Gagné. “Our success is the result of teamwork and I would like to applaud our employees’ commitment to making our famous “Passenger First” motto a reality. We’re going to keep working to consolidate our position as a leader in North America in terms of service quality”, Mr. Gagné added.

About ASQ

ACI’s survey measures overall client satisfaction according to various service parameters and evaluates passenger experience at the airport from the minute the passenger walks through the door until he or she gets on the plane. Each quarter, a certain number of client surveys must be completed according to sampling established by ASQ. Analysis of the data collected on departure days is an efficient tool in matching client services to client expectations. By comparing similar airports, ASQ allows each airport to see where it stands compared to its peers and consequently prioritise improvement projects and confirm the appropriateness of investments toward improved services. Over 200 airports participate in the ASQ survey.

A year crowned with success

The ASQ results are part of another successful year for YQB. In 2011, another historic landmark was achieved with 1,313,432 passengers travelling through the airport, a 10.4% increase in passenger traffic. «Considering that almost 125,000 more passengers transited through our airport this year, it is all the more noteworthy that we are able to meet our clients’ needs in terms of high standards of quality », Mr. Gagné said.

Since November 1, 2000, the Québec City Airport has been responsible for the management, operation, maintenance and development of the Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. Approximately a dozen carriers offer multiple connections to various destinations in North America, the Caribbean, Mexico and Europe, over 50 direct flights a day to major cities in Eastern Canada and the United States, such as Montréal, Ottawa, Toronto, New York, Detroit, Chicago and Philadelphia and, in winter, over 40 chartered flights a week to sun destinations as well as Paris and Marseille.
