YQB VOTED BEST AIRPORT IN NORTH AMERICA

February 19th, 2014 – For the third time in the last four years, the Québec City Jean-Lesage International Airport (YQB) has been voted Best Airport in North America in the 0-2 million passenger category according to Airport Service Quality (ASQ), a world-wide survey lead by Airports Council International (ACI) which measures airport client satisfaction.

“It’s with great pleasure and pride that we welcome this excellent news. The bestowal of this honor again is a reflection of the importance we attach to our passengers’ satisfaction. Passengers who chose Québec City for their departure or arrival want an unforgettable experience and that’s what we strive to offer every day”, said Aéroport de Québec’s (AQi) President and CEO, Gaëtan Gagné.

About ASQ

ACI’s survey measures overall client satisfaction according to various service parameters and evaluates passenger experience at the airport from the minute the passenger walks through the door until he or she gets on the plane. Each quarter, a certain number of client surveys must be completed according to sampling established by ASQ. Analysis of the data collected on departure days is an efficient tool in matching client services to client expectations. By comparing similar airports, ASQ allows each airport to see where it stands compared to its peers. Over 280 airports participate in the ASQ survey.

Record traffic

2013 was crowned with success as passenger traffic beat a new record with 1,475,717 passengers, an increase of 9.9% compared to 2012. YQB has seen passenger traffic increase consistently for the past 11 years.

AQi’S President and CEO took the opportunity to reveal the results of a survey conducted in January 2014 of the Census Metropolitan Area of Québec*. Results showed that 92% of the people surveyed have a very good or good opinion of YQB. 94% consider that YQB’s development is very or quite important for the region’s economic development. The survey also showed that there is unequivocal support for the airport’s development projects, whereas 93% of the population is strongly or somewhat strongly in favor of the investments planned between now and 2016 to further the development of the airport’s infrastructures and increase capacity.

“More than ever, our region’s population is proud of their airport and the progress made over the last decade. We are grateful for the recognition and the trust placed in us which are proof that we’ve made the right decisions these past years. These excellent results prove that, without a doubt, we were right to place the passengers at the head of our list of priorities: their numbers are growing and they’re contributing to making our airport a major economic development lever,” Mr. Gagné concluded.
