Air Canada Rouge to provide service between Québec City and Toronto starting July 1, 2018

15 feb

Québec City, February 15, 2018 – Air Canada has confirmed that its subsidiary Rouge will take over service between Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ). The current fleet of 74-seat Bombardier Q-400s will be replaced by 136-seat Airbus 319 and 200-seat Airbus 321 jets. Rouge will operate five daily flights to Toronto Pearson International Airport. A sixth flight with a stopover at Montreal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport (YUL) will be added during the summer.

The change in aircraft will improve service for YQB passengers. It will mean better capacity during peak hours, reduced flight times, improved comfort, and access to the Air Canada Premium services.

“We welcome Air Canada’s decision to increase the number of seats on flights to this major hub,” said Gaëtan Gagné, President and CEO of Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport. “This decision illustrates the strong potential and vibrancy of the Québec City area, he added. “It’s a market that has grown steadily, with increased passenger volume over the past number of years. The capacity provided at YQB by the addition of four new gates will certainly stimulate competition and benefit passengers.”
