5KM YQB : A first in Québec: 1,200 participants expected to run YQB’s runway

Québec City, May 10, 2019 – On Saturday, August 24, 2019, Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) will be holding the first 5 KM YQB, where some 1,200 participants will have the chance to run the airport’s main runway. The 5 KM YQB is a unique opportunity for people in the Québec City area to see the airport from a different angle—one that’s normally not available to the public. This type of race has already proven successful at other Canadian airports, but this will be a first in Quebec. Avjet and Air Canada have partnered with the airport to sponsor the event.

The award celebrates the accomplishments and dedicated work of North American airports in environmental awareness and innovation. YQB’s environmental management plan won in the Mitigation category.

Québec City, February 13, 2019 – While in Québec City as a guest speaker for Routes Americas 2019, Nawal Taneja, Executive-In-Residence at Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, took the opportunity to introduce his most recent book, Re-Platforming the Airline Business. Gaëtan Gagné, President and CEO of Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB), wrote a foreword for the book, alongside his counterparts at Denver and Amsterdam airports, to name a few.

YQB’s good governance once again recognized by Transport Canada

Québec City, February 8, 2019 – This week, Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport (YQB) once again received confirmation of its sound management and good governance through Transport Canada’s annual audit of its activities. Each year, YQB prepares an exhaustive accountability report for Transport Canada as part of the department’s lease monitoring program. And each time over the past ten years, the airport has been satisfactory in meeting its obligations. 

Note that the federal agency is the only authority able to qualify and audit YQB’s governance.
